House of Brigid

We are delighted to welcome back Geoff Burdell and we also warmly welcome two new members of the House of Brigid for the coming year: Emma Fleming and Elizabeth (Biz) Honeywell. Geoff, Emma and Biz will be directing the sacramental programmes for First Holy Communion and Confirmation in the parish, and helping with our music ministry. We wish them a Céad Míle Fáilte, and God’s blessing on their time among us.

The American outreach programme House of Brigid (Teach Bhríde) invites recent college graduates to serve the Church in Ireland, mainly through liturgical music ministry and youth catechesis, while also enjoying personal and spiritual growth. It stems from a spirit of gratitude to the missionaries of Ireland who brought the Catholic faith to America, an effort to strengthen in today’s Irish Catholics the faith that sustained their ancestors, and a desire to give young Americans the opportunity to immerse themselves in Irish culture and Celtic spirituality.

In June 2016, we said thank you and farewell to Geoff Burdell, Rikki Koebler and Susanna Floyd, from the University of Notre Dame; among their achievements was the visit of the Notre Dame Folk Choir.

In June 2015, we bade farewell to Sarah Cahalan and Angie Schott, who were our inaugural House of Brigid Fellows.
