Archbishop Visit

Congratulations and blessings to the children attending St Clare’s Primary School and Harold’s Cross National School who received the Sacrament of Confirmation on Thursday 2nd March. Many thanks to their parents, teachers, the parish team and all who helped to make the day so special. We were excited to welcome Archbishop Diarmuid Martin as chief celebrant.

Our House of Brigid Fellows, Biz, Emma and Geoff, were thrilled to share in the joy of this sacrament with all the children. They visited the children in the schools and provided catechesis after Mass as part of our Confirmation preparation programme. Archbishop Martin was delighted with the results achieved.

Special thanks to our sacristan, Edith Compton, who masterminded the entire operation and still found time to put on her Benemerenti Medal! Master of Ceremonies to the Archbishop, Fr Damian McNeice, was very impressed at how well organised everything was.

Today’s Mass Readings
The only survivor of a shipwreck washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him, and every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming. Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect him from the elements, and to store his few possessions. But then one day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, the smoke rolling up to the sky. The worst had happened; everything was lost. He was stung with grief and anger. "God, how could you do this to me!" he cried.
Early the next day, however, he was awakened by the sound of a ship that was approaching the island. It had come to rescue him. "How did you know I was here?" asked the weary man of his rescuers. "We saw your smoke signal," they replied.
